When it comes to choosing an Airbnb to stay at for a holiday getaway you are certainly spoiled for choice these days. The short term rental market has exploded in recent years and many people are using their own holiday homes as income generators to see out some pretty bleak economic times of late.
For hosts the gain is in the revenue that a property can bring in and for high volume occupancy this can really be a good earner. For guests the benefit is that you will be able to choose a place that is suited to your needs, be it for business or holiday purposes. These days Airbnb hosts are going all out to make sure that you get the best value for money stay.
I was fortunate enough to photograph one of the best Airbnb spaces I have seen in recent times at a new building in the Sibaya Precinct. The owners, who live in the UK contacted me to come and photograph the space before they went back home as they wanted to list it on Airbnb. I have done a few units at a number of buildings in this new area but nothing quite like what I found at the end of Heleza Boulevard in the new apartment block called Point Break.
The apartment is a 3 bedroom, open plan masterpiece where the entire front part of the living area opens up with stackable glass walls revealing the most amazing views looking south over the ocean. I can imagine sitting out on the expansive balcony on a hot and humid Durban evening, watching the ships at anchor while sipping on a refreshing drink. Want to cook a steak? Turn on the gas BBQ and send the neighbours into states of salivation with your culinary skills. A short drive away you will be in the action at Sibaya Casino, or take another short drive to the Umdloti main beach.
