As a Durban based photographer I will be honing the range of my professional services to be more in line with the market needs in 2014.
I found myself covering a lot more events in 2013 and as such this will remain my primary focus in 2014. However, I will be shifting my focus onto more artistic output at these events and will be using an assistant to cover the social photography required (ie, the handshake pics and the posed stuff). I will be doing more “fly-on-the-wall” type photography, documenting the people at the event but without engaging them. I have found that these types of photographs are the more desired amongst my clients as they are a true reflection of what the event is actually all about.
I did this particularly well in 2013 and my coverage of both the Hotel Investment Conference Africa (HICA) for the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) and the ICANN47 meeting at the ICC produced a number of images that were very pleasing to those clients. Here’s some examples:
If you’re looking for documentary coverage of any event in Durban (or anywhere in South Africa and beyond) this year, I’d love to be of assistance. Call me.
